  15. This document refers to shareware application 'When and Where',
  16. version 1.  Extensive details are provided in the on-line help.  Without
  17. exception all rights to When and Where belong in perpetuity to the
  18. authors.

  20. Note:  This document and contents and all other references shall at all
  21. times be subject to being superceded by a later version.  At all times
  22. the latest version of this application made publicly available by the
  23. authors shall take precedence, immediately cancelling and replacing all
  24. earlier versions and extents.  Please contact the authors to clarify and

  28. Overview
  29. ========
  30. 'When and Where' is a Microsoft Windows (c)(r) application to help ease
  31. the burden of scheduling sporting activities and events - it is not
  32. limited to any sport in particular, and in fact will work for ANY
  33. activity which requires a future schedule to be built!
  34.  
  35. All features of this application are highly user-configrable to suit
  36. any sporting arrangement, at any level of the sport.
  37.  
  38. If you evaluate this software and decide that it is not what you want
  39. because it lacks a feature that you would really like to see, please
  40. tell us - we may be able to help!  In the past many good ideas which
  41. have been implemented in our software applications have come directly
  42. from user feedback - sometimes those ideas are turned around in just a
  43. day or two, to the surprise of our users!

  46. About Try-before-you-buy Software
  47. =================================
  48. Many potential users equate try-before-you-buy softwarewith another
  49. rather nasty term - shoddyware.  Doubtless there is software being
  50. distributed as try-before-you-buy that gives the concept a bad name.  We
  51. believe you will quickly find with this application that it is of the
  52. highest quality - and if you think it isn't, tell us why.  We sincerely
  53. believe in providing both the best product AND the best support possible
  54. to all of our users!

  57. Target Audience
  58. ===============
  59. The target audience for this application will be adminstrators who are
  60. tasked with the responsibility to create league schedules, including the
  61. scheduling of teams, venues AND game officials!
  62.

  66. * Multiple/unlimited user-configurable divisions (team/player groups)

  68. * Up to 180 teams in any division

  74. * Totally automatic and randomised schedule to select teams, venues AND
  75.   officials for every game scheduled

  82. * Up to 8 game officials per game - each with their own designated

  93.   they are considered not to be available (vacations etc) - the

  98.   home games are to take place at that venue

  101.   prevent the same venue/official being used by the same team twice

  106. Target Platforms
  107. ================
  108. When and Where is provided as standard for Windows 3.x.  A new version
  109. for Windows 95/NT is expected to be released shortly (this will share
  110. the same database, thus the user can upgrade to the Windows 95 version
  111. without loss of data, and free of charge!).

  115. This version of When and Where operates on any MS Windows platform.

  118. Environmental Requirements
  119. ==========================
  120. MS Windows 3.x with a 386 PC or better.  Recommended minimum 8 megabytes
  121. RAM, and a 66MHz PC or better.

  123.  
  124. Licensing
  125. =========
  126. When and Where is released under the try-before-you-buy concept (the
  127. author is a member of the Association of Shareware Professionals).  The
  128. try-before-you-buy version is fully functional and unlimited for 45 days
  129. or 30 hours of cumulative use to allow the user to fully evaluate the
  130. software.  On completion of the evaluation period the software will
  131. still operate to allow the user to access data previously entered, and
  132. to create new schedules.
  133.  
  134. During the evaluation period the user is provided with the right to use
  135. the software for evaluation purposes, without obligation to obtain a
  136. license.  However, once the evaluation period is over (45 days from
  137. installation or 30 hours use), this right is automatically revoked.
  138.  
  139. Licensing is provided on a named-individual basis only to help prevent
  140. possible fraud/illegal distribution.  Licensing will NOT be carried
  141. out in the name of a club or other organisation.
  142.  
  143. The user is REQUIRED to obtain a license from the authors to allow
  144. continued use of the software on completion of the evaluation period, by
  145. payment of the requested fee (see the on-line help under 'Licensing'
  146. for further information).  Acceptance of the license fee by the
  147. authors will provide the user with the non-transferrable, non-exclusive
  148. and revokable permission to continue using this software, and both the
  149. user and authors shall be bound to the terms and conditions as expressed
  150. in the LATEST PUBLICLY AVAILABLE VERSION.

  152. WITHOUT EXCEPTION all rights to When and Where and its extents,
  153. including but not limited to copyright and intellectual rights, belong
  154. to the authors in perpetuity - payment for licensing this software
  155. does not under any circumstance transfer these rights.  Licensing is
  156. provided on a single-user basis only.  Full details and terms and
  157. conditions are contained within the on-line help under 'Licensing'.

  159. Failure to obtain a license from the authors on completion of the
  160. evaluation period, or attempting to extend the evaluation period using
  161. methods not supported by the authors renders further use of the software
  162. an illegal activity on the part of the user.  Such activity will be
  163. subject to legal action if considered appropriate by the authors.

  166. Warranty
  167. ========
  168. Installation and/or use of this software is entirely at the users own
  169. risk.  With the sole exception of defective media (which shall be
  170. replaced without charge if notified within 15 days of shipment) THERE IS
  171. NO WARRANTY PROVIDED WITH THIS SOFTWARE.

  173. Any and all harmful and/or unexpected side effects of installing and/or
  174. using this software will be the sole responsibility of the person
  175. undertaking the installation and/or use.  Under no circumstance can the
  176. authors be held liable for consequential effects of installing/using
  177. this software.  Any claims for damages and/or harmful effects shall be
  178. limited to the maximum of a single license fee.

  184. ================
  185. The user may choose from a number of options to facilitate licensing of
  186. this software.  These options are explained in detail within the on-line
  187. help provided with the application (see under 'Licesning').

  189. Options include cheque, cash and credit card.  On-line transactions can
  190. be carried out via an arrangement undertaken with the Public (software)
  191. Library.

  194. Registration Benefits
  195. =====================

  198. *  Personalised copy of the application, via user name/unique serial
  199.    number.  This will allow the user to personalise all future version
  200.    8's that may be released (it may roll over to version 9 or beyond at
  201.    the discretion of the authors).

  207. =======
  208. Technical support from the authors is available to all licensed users,
  209. and shall be for a minimum of six months from first purchase.

  212. and/or bugs in a timely manner.
